Koutoubia Mosque

Koutoubia Mosque

Why Visit:Dominating the skyline of Marrakech, the Koutoubia Mosque is the city’s largest and most iconic religious structure. Completed in the 12th century during the reign of the Almohad dynasty, its soaring 77-meter (253 feet) minaret is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and can be seen from miles around. While non-Muslims are not allowed inside the mosque, the exterior is a sight to behold, particularly at sunset when the minaret is bathed in golden light. The mosque’s surrounding gardens are a peaceful place to relax and admire its impressive structure.
