Your journey begins at 8:30 AM from Marrakech, where you’ll head toward the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest road in Morocco at an impressive 2,300 meters. As you navigate this scenic mountain route, you’ll make your way to Ouarzazate, famously known as the “City of Kasbahs.”
Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, your first stop will be the historic Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This iconic location has served as the backdrop for numerous famous films, including Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia. After exploring Ait Benhaddou, you’ll head to the Cinema Museum in Ouarzazate, which showcases the region’s rich film history.
Before leaving the city, your driver will take you to the Atlas Film Studios, where you can marvel at the impressive sets and filming equipment used in popular movies and TV shows.
Next, you’ll travel through the lush Valley of Roses (Kalaa de Magona), known for its fragrant rose gardens. Your day will conclude in the Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night at a comfortable riad or hotel, nestled in the stunning landscape.
After breakfast, your driver will take you to the stunning Todra Gorge, famous for its towering cliffs and colorful rock formations. This is a great spot for a break to stretch your legs and take some memorable photos.
From there, you’ll continue your journey, passing through the Ziz River valley and into Arfoud, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Arfoud is famous for its local workshops producing artisan crafts such as flower vases and decorative pottery, offering the perfect opportunity to shop for unique souvenirs.
Next, you’ll make your way to Rissani, a town known for its bustling souks where you can explore local handmade goods. Your day will end as you arrive in Merzouga, a small village on the edge of the desert, where you’ll spend the night at a local hotel.
The third day of your adventure will be a truly unforgettable experience. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a camel trek through the golden dunes of Merzouga, led by a local guide. For those not familiar with camel rides, there is the option to explore the desert by 4×4 vehicle.
While in Merzouga, you’ll also visit the nearby village of Khamlia, known for its rich cultural heritage and the world-famous Gnaoua music. You’ll have the chance to enjoy a performance of this traditional folk music, which is a unique part of Morocco’s musical identity.
In the evening, you’ll head to a traditional desert camp where you’ll spend the night in comfortable nomadic tents under the stars, offering a true desert experience.
Your day begins early with a spectacular sunrise over the vast, golden dunes of the Sahara. After watching the sunrise, you’ll return to the hotel on camelback and meet your driver to begin the journey to Fes.
Along the way, you’ll pass through the town of Midelt, where you can stop for some shopping or a refreshing break. Continuing through the Atlas Mountains, you’ll enjoy a scenic lunch stop, stretching your legs before resuming the drive.
Your final destination is Fes, where you’ll check into your hotel and relax after your long but fascinating journey. You’ll have time to rest and prepare for your departure.
